Delete your account and data
You can delete your Lingocast account and all associated personal data at any time. We provide three independent ways to do it so the option is always reachable, including from inside the iOS and Android apps as required by Apple App Store and Google Play policies.
1. Delete your Lingocast account
Method 1 — In-app (recommended)
- Open the Lingocast app on your phone (iOS or Android).
- Tap Profile (bottom-right tab).
- Tap Settings → Account.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account (Danger zone).
- Type
DELETEto confirm, optionally tell us why, then tap Delete.
The app calls our authenticated DELETE /api/account endpoint and signs you out immediately on success.
Method 2 — On the web
- Sign in at https://www.lingocast.cc/login.
- Open /account.
- Click the red Delete my account… button.
- Confirm by typing
DELETE.
Method 3 — By email
If you cannot access the app or website, email [email protected] from the address on file with the subject "Delete my account". We verify the request and complete deletion within 30 days. We will email a confirmation when finished.
2. What gets deleted
- Profile: email, name, password hash (or SSO link), native language, learning language, English level.
- Listening history, vocabulary cards, saved articles, playlists.
- Daily usage counters and free-tier limits.
- Private RSS subscriptions and any audio generated from them.
- Linked Google / Apple / Facebook OAuth records.
- Subscription metadata (plan, status). See section 3 for what we must retain.
3. What is retained, and why

4. Cancel your subscription separately
Account deletion does not automatically cancel App Store or Google Play subscriptions, because those subscriptions are managed by Apple / Google, not by us. To avoid future charges, cancel your subscription before deleting your account:
- iOS: App Store → profile → Subscriptions → Lingocast → Cancel.
- Android: Google Play → Menu → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Lingocast → Cancel.
- Web (Stripe): deleting your account immediately cancels the Stripe subscription.
5. Timeline
Methods 1 and 2 delete your account immediately on confirmation. Method 3 (email) completes within 30 days of a verified request. Encrypted backups age out within a further 30 days.
6. This is permanent
Account deletion is irreversible. We cannot restore your data afterwards. If you sign up again later you will start a new account.
