Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Lingocast website at https://www.lingocast.cc and the Lingocast mobile and web applications (together, the "Service"), operated by IGEARS TECHNOLOGY LIMITED ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using the Service you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Acceptable Use Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of the service

Lingocast helps users learn English (and other languages) through real-world news content with AI-powered audio. The Service includes article summaries, bilingual narration, vocabulary tools, and personal listening history. Some features are free; others require a Plus subscription.

3. Account registration

You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EU/UK, or the minimum digital-consent age in your country if higher) to create an account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us at [email protected] as soon as you suspect unauthorised use.

4. Subscriptions

Lingocast offers two paid plans, billed in Canadian dollars (CAD):

  • Plus Monthly — billed every month.
  • Plus Yearly — billed every 12 months at a discount.

Plus unlocks unlimited daily summaries, custom RSS sources, priority AI processing, and other features described on our Pricing page. The current price and billing period are shown at checkout (web) or on the App Store / Play Store listing (mobile).

4.1 Auto-renewal

Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your subscription will continue and your payment method will be charged automatically until you cancel.

4.2 Payment

Payment is charged to your App Store, Google Play, or Stripe account at confirmation of purchase, and again at each renewal. Applicable taxes are added where required by law.

4.3 Managing and cancelling your subscription

  • iOS: Open the App Store app → tap your profile picture → Subscriptions → Lingocast → Cancel Subscription. Or follow Apple's instructions at support.apple.com/HT202039.
  • Android: Open the Google Play app → Menu → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Lingocast → Cancel subscription.
  • Web: Sign in at https://www.lingocast.cc, open your account page, and cancel from there. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Plus features until that date.

You must cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid being charged for the next period.

4.4 Refunds

Refunds for in-app purchases are handled by Apple or Google per their respective policies — contact them, not us, for refunds on iOS or Android subscriptions.

4.5 Free trials

If we offer a free trial, you will not be charged during the trial period. Any unused free-trial portion is forfeited when a paid subscription begins. If you cancel during the trial, you keep access until the trial ends and are not charged.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to: scrape or bulk-download the Service; reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the apps; infringe anyone's intellectual-property rights; use the Service to train competing AI models; resell access; harass other users; or probe, attack, or disrupt our infrastructure. See the full Acceptable Use Policy. Violations can result in suspension or termination without refund.

6. User content

You retain ownership of vocabulary cards, custom RSS feed lists, and other content you create within the Service. You grant Lingocast a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, and display that content for the sole purpose of providing the Service to you. We do not share or publish your content with other users.

7. Third-party content

News articles played in the Service are sourced from external publishers via RSS feeds. Lingocast does not own, control, or endorse third-party news content. AI-generated summaries are derived from public RSS feeds for educational and language-learning purposes consistent with fair-use principles. If you are a publisher and wish your feed removed, contact [email protected] or follow our DMCA / IP procedure.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (see Data Deletion). We may suspend or terminate your access for cause, including violation of these Terms or applicable law. Sections 6, 7, 9, 10, 12, and 13 survive termination.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE". AI-generated summaries, translations, and audio may contain inaccuracies; do not rely on them for medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical decisions. To the maximum extent permitted by law we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim or (b) CA$50. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.

11. Apple-specific terms (iOS users only)

If you obtained the Lingocast app from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and IGEARS TECHNOLOGY LIMITED, not Apple, and that Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple is, however, a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [PROVINCE TO BE FILLED IN], Canada, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of [PROVINCE TO BE FILLED IN], Canada, except where consumer-protection law in your country of residence requires otherwise.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the current version. Material changes will be announced by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
